Improve your loan

Switch to a loan with features that better suit the way you manage your money, such as an offset account or more flexible repayments.

Refinance questions, answered

Answers to the questions we hear most from homeowners thinking about switching.

How much could I save by refinancing?

It depends on your loan size and current rate. On a $700,000 loan, a 0.5% rate reduction saves around $3,500 per year, or $17,500 over 5 years. We calculate your specific savings upfront.

Are there costs to refinancing?

There may be discharge fees from your current lender and application fees with the new one. If you're on a fixed rate, there may also be break costs. We factor all of these in so you see the true net benefit.

How long does refinancing take?

Typically 2–4 weeks from application to settlement. We manage the whole process and keep you updated at every step. It's much simpler than most people expect.

Will refinancing affect my credit score?

A refinance application adds an enquiry to your credit file, which usually has only a small, short-lived effect. What matters more is keeping repayments on time through the switch, and we manage the timing so nothing is missed.

Can I refinance if my property has fallen in value?

It can be harder, because the loan is a bigger share of the value, but it's often still possible. We check your current equity position first and tell you honestly whether switching now or waiting is the better move.
